We are Jenna Drury and Nicolette Hobson, two experienced freelance drama practitioners based in York. Jenna has a Performing Arts BA (Hons) degree and a Primary PGCE and Nicolette Hobson has a BA (hons) degree in Drama and Art.
We both work in theatre, directing York Theatre Royal Youth Theatre productions, touring T.I.E and leading a wide variety of drama workshops with children aged from 2-16 years. We work in a range of settings in York from York Theatre Royal to Little Green Rascals Nursery and Fairfax House, plus many primary schools.
We are both mothers. Jenna has three children with her husband James and Nicolette has two children with her husband and work partner Gerard.
Gerard Hobson heads up the visual arts side of Mud Pie. He has extensive experience in illustration and has published work. Gerard is now a qualified Forest School leader.
What we believe
Our philosophy is to provide creative theatrical experiences in which the children participate and shape the story’s conclusion. Mud Pie is all about getting stuck in, with the emphasis based on the empowerment of children, to create instantaneous style of theatre and play.
We believe drama enhances a child’s communication, confidence, language and empathy skills which form the foundation of every child’s development and success. Drama can motivate children to respond with quality writing, art and other forms of expression. We believe our child-centred approach leads to active learning.
Our aim is to inspire and delight children and young people.
