Sample workshops;

‘The Flum Flum Tree’ by Julia Donaldson – KS1

Themes: Literacy, Fantasy Islands, Problem solving

Aims: The children will set sail to find the far away isle of Blowyernose. Can they overcome the obstacles on the way, to bring back the rare Flum Flum Fruit and make Granny better? The children will role-play the story before being introduced to the wonderful picture book.

‘The Jumblies’ by Edward Lear – KS1

Themes: Poetry, Fantasy Islands, Storytelling, Performance

Aims: The children will meet a character, A�an old sea dog A�who has discovered ‘The Legend of the Jumblies’. The children listen and join in a performance of the whole poem before setting sail to see if they can also discover the island of the Jumblies. The children create their own adventures and retell their stories around the camp fire.
