Florence Nightingale

Meet

IMG_0877.JPG

Dear Teachers and Parents,

Here is our interactive film 'Meet Florence Nightingale' in two parts. It is suitable for 7-11 year olds. We launch it on 12th May 2020 - International Nurses Day, and the bicentenary of Florence Nightingale's birth.

Florence Nightingale was more than 'the lady with the lamp'. She was public health reformer, statistician and pioneer for women in the workplace. Inspire your children to find their passion, work hard and make a difference to others.

Mud Pie Arts made this film during lockdown. Even if we cannot run this drama lesson in schools, we believe Florence Nightingale's story is such an important and relevant one that it must be shared and celebrated. Resources available at

We compliment this with the wonderful story of Mary Seacole. Share this reading of the children's book 'Hoorah for Mary Seacole' from the Hopscotch Histories Series.

This story is suitable for KS1. It tells of the brave Jamaican nurse who made her own way to the Crimea to help British soldiers.

Please share these films with other teachers and parents.

Thank you.

Stay well,

Jenna and Nicolette

THANK YOU to BADGER HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL, YORK , for this feedback on 'Meet Florence Nightingale':

''I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the Florence Nightingale workshop today! It was great... we all learned such a lot and had great fun joining in with the drama and applying bandages!
We had a few shocked parents when they came to pick up and saw the amount of ‘injuries’ had taken place! ''
